    • 10. Good Will Hunting
A hidden gem that got lost in the massive shadow of Titanic during the 1997 Oscar race. Stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in their first major roles, and Robin Williams in his only Oscar-winning performance.
    • 9. Toy Story/Toy Story 2
The first computer-animated movie ever made and its equally great sequel. Tells the story of the adventures of a group of toys belonging to a boy named Andy.
    • 8. The Matrix
Kickass movie with the greatest visual effects of the century that has a storyline too confusing to put into three lines of writing.
    • 7. Pulp Fiction
Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece, a crime drama that depicts multiple stories that all come together at the end of the two-day saga. Brilliant performances by all.
    • 6. Saving Private Ryan
One of Spielberg's best, and the best war film of all-time. Depicts the story of an Army Captain who has to track down a young soldier who has lost 3 brothers in the war and is getting a free ride home shortly after D-Day.
    • 5. As Good As It Gets
Hilarious comedy-drama about an obsessive compulsive, homophobic romance novelist who is forced to take care of his gay neighbor and his dog, and come to terms with the waitress who serves him breakfast every morning. Features the performances of Jack Nicholson's and Helen Hunt's life.
    • 4. The Fugitive
Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones both give brilliant performances in one of the best thrillers ever made about a fugitive wrongly accused of killing his wife and the U.S. Marshal chasing him.
    • 3. Jerry Maguire
Terrific romantic comedy featuring Tom Cruise, Renee Zellwegger, and Cuba Gooding Jr. in the best performances of their careers, as a sports agent, his on-and-off wife, and his only client.
    • 2. The Shawshank Redemption
Uplifting prison drama about an innocent man who is jailed and learns how precious life is during his life-long term. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman shine, as usual.
    • 1. Forrest Gump
Towering performance by Tom Hanks is the best highlight of this sentimental instant-classic about a slightly retarded man's life journey.

    • 10. The Good Son
I can't name one child actor these days that can compare to this work done by Macaulay Culkin. A really smart, intense, and real movie. Impressive. Suprised to not see it on the lists, because it ranks.
    • 9. The Cable Guy
In my opinion, Jim Carrey's best role until Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Nobody could do as great a job as Chip Douglas. This movie wasn't even suppose really be a comedy, but when Jim came aboard it was made into the greatest Dark Comedy from the 90s. Mathew Brodrick wasn't bad. Much better in Election.
    • 8. Pulp Fiction
This is excellent, but I must say that Reservior Dogs would beat this out if it were for the low budget. A classic 90s flick by all means.
    • 7. Boogie Nights
There will never be a movie that gives greater testimony as to what the porn industry lifestyle was like in the 70s. The cast is could not be better choosen, and everyone sticks in your head like a load of...?
    • 6. American Beauty
Kevin Spacey's best work to date, he can't be touch here. The storyline is near perfect. Definetely a must see.
    • 5. Dazed and Confused
Wow, there is no better high school movie then this, and there never will be. Excellent cast. If you have never seen this and have graduated high school after it was made, then you dont deserve to watch movies. Great Soundtrack as well.
    • 4. Fight Club
Look out for Chuck Palahniuk. That was his first book to film, but there is more to come. This one barely made it in b4 2000, but it will forever make a mark in psychological thrillers. If you love this then check out American Psycho which is also a book to movie. Would have but it on the list but it was released in 2000
    • 3. Shawshank Redemption
This flick growls at Escape from Alcatraz in quite a way. Hands down best flick about prison life with an ultimate ending
    • 2. Jurrasic Park
Are you people kidding me? How was this not on the list? One of the most visually stunning movies of all time. Its gonna be awhile before a dino movie comes along that can even touch this classic. No need to even see the second and third at all. This was one of the first movies that turn me into a movie buff for good.
    • 1. The Matrix or Forrest Gump
Both are equally classics, and will forever be watchable for decades to come. The second and third Matrixs were not very good but sequels never are really, just money makers. Tom Hanks will never be a better actor than in this role. Both are extremly well written and touch on multiple genres, making for great flicks. If you've never seen either then I can't believe you are living.
Great movies: Bully, Requiem for a Dream, Eternal Sunshine, Election, Punch Drunk Love, Storytelling, American Psycho, Natural Born Killers, Sandlot (kiddy classic). Sorry if you don't like the list, but known that it is the best one coming from a pro.

    • 10. Bicentennial Man
Hilarious and yet touching, I love how this movie covers such a long time period in the "life" of a robot played by Robin Williams. He sees all of his human friends come and go over the years and finally gets what he wants for a perfect ending.
    • 9. Con Air
One of the best action movies of the 90's. Also, Nicholas Cage's best action movie. It's non-stop from start to finish and manages to include a good amount of love and romance.
    • 8. The Green Mile
Another great performance from Tom Hanks. It's a nice prison drama with an awesome plot. And te comedic moments carry it along very well.
    • 7. Armageddon
I don't hear a lot of good things about this movie and I don't know why. Bruce Willis is awesome as the man who saves the planet. Ben Affleck even delivers a good performance alongside Liv Tyler. It's also a good tear-jerker.
    • 6. Die Hard: With a Vengeance
I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with this choice. However, I love that Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson are in it together and how they play off of each other. Also, John McTiernan (the director of the first) returns to direct. But of course, it will never beat the original.
    • 5. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
Ah, Jim Carrey's first starring role. His character is absolutely hilarious in everything he does. Dan Marino doesn't really help the movie but Jim makes up for that in every snap of sarcasm and humor you can think of.
    • 4. What Dreams May Come
With pretty much no comedy what-so-ever and Robin Williams as the lead character, this beautiful journey through the afterlife is as powerful as they come.
    • 3. Braveheart
Probably Mel Gibson's finest work, not only as an actor but as a director, too. The battles are magnificent (especially with the number of extras involved) and the romance is terrific.
    • 2. Forrest Gump
One of Tom Hanks' crowning achievements. This whole story takes you to so many places and shows how this man struggles with everyday life.
    • 1. Good Will Hunting
A little like "Dead Poets Society", Robin Williams is great as an inspirational professor/teacher/counselor. Plus, he gives one of his best dramatic performances ever.
I was hesitant to put 3 Robin Williams movies on this list but I couldn't help it, they're great. Believe me, there are many others that could be on here and this whole list isn't exactly in order. But, these are definitely some of my favorite movies from the 90's.
