What are your top ten favorite movies from the 90s?

    By: Michael Browne
    • 10. Scream 2
A compelling horror movie (!) full of fun details and memorable scenes that you crave to replay again and again
    • 9. Toy Story
A virtual-cartoon that has it all: laughs, drama, beautiful music, and a magic show of CGI arguably more impressive than anything previously committed to celluloid
    • 8. Three Kings
Innovative filmmaking technique and an unflinchingly rough tale about the unspoken reality of war, and who the bad guys really are
    • 7. 12 Monkeys
The machinations and intricacies of this story mesmerize me
    • 6. Pleasantville
Gary Ross paints a striking, poetic visual spell and a story replete with meaning and subtext, told through the most entertaining ways
    • 5. Clueless
If there's any movie that could cheer me up, it's this one. The colors and brightness and friendliness of it all, not to mention the coolest group of teen actors (and characters, for that matter) ever assembled and a flawless screenplay, widen my smile past the furthest reaches of my face
    • 4. Saving Private Ryan
A war movie so jarring it sends you into convulsions after each viewing, no matter how many times you've seen it
    • 3. You've Got Mail
My favorite romantic comedy. In addition to the wit and warmth, there is much pathos and real feeling being expressed. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan symbolize the very core of idealistic romanticism. Probably the only time a movie had made me cry in pure happiness
    • 2. Can't Hardly Wait
The pinnacle of teen movies. It encapsulates essentially everything necessary to understand teenagers, maybe a little simplified, but sometimes happy endings are the most wonderful of them all
    • 1. Back to the Future part 3
Because it's part of the trilogy of my favorite movies of all time

    • 10. Pulp Fiction
very cool film and resurected John Travolta's career. Tarantino's best by far.
    • 9. Go
If High Fidelity epitomises the 80's then this does it for the 90's. A teenage version of Pulp Fiction. Also the english bloke (forget his name) starred in the British school drama Grange Hill so he has done well for himself to get into Hollywood.
    • 8. High Fidelity
I actually havent seen it but based on the book, film reviews, and it starring John Cusack I just know I will love it as it relives the 80's.cool music.
    • 7. 4 Weddings and a Funeral
one of the best British films ever. So funny. A classic
    • 6. Don't tell Mom the Babysitters Dead
Again has an 80's feel to it but is so funny. And Josh Charles must be noted for his cuteness.
    • 5. Empire Records
Seems to capture an 80's feeling in a 90's style. cool music and cool film, makes me wish I could work in a music srore like that.
    • 4. Romeo + Juliet
Another great love story and brings shakespere up to date. Also Leo and Paul Rudd(Paris)are in it.
    • 3. Titanic
The sweetest and sadest love story ever. Leo is a babe and its a 90's classic
    • 2. Pretty Woman
Its a modern day fariytale, "Cinderf***ingrella"
    • 1. Clueless
I love this movie I was 15 when it came out and I just wanted to be Cher, the clothes, cars and partys and Paul Rudd is like a total baldwin.also cool soundtrack.
Honourable mentions: Kevin Smith's Clerks,Mallrats,Chasing Amy and Dogma okay some of them suck but Kevin has been influnced by John Hughs films of the 80's and Jay and Slilent Bob are funny. Shes all that, Never been Kissed. Indecent Proposal as the story is sweet and there is the bit about "if you love something set it free...". The Wedding singer as the 80's soundtrack is great and Dazed and Confused which is just a cool film about the 70's and starred Jeremy London.
