    • 10. Saving Private Ryan
      There's no way i can give my top ten of the 90's without mentioning a Hanks film, he's done so many good ones, but in my opinion, this was his best.
    • 9. American Beauty
      Yet another Spacey movie, a great funny and moving movie on american life directed by a british guy, Sam Mendes
    • 8. L.A. Confidental
      A wonderful star studded cast that includes Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey, Guy Pierce and Danny Devito. But also the director Curtis hason does a wonderful job telling us a very confusing story
    • 7. Bottle Rocket
      This is my second movie by Wes Anderson ( The other Rushmore ), this is the greatest comedy about three stupid wannabe criminals
    • 6. Truman Show
      Probably the most original movie of the 90's, but that's not all about it, it happens to be a little bit funny, a little bit drama, and has a very thrilling climax
    • 5. Ed Wood
      Tim Burton's masterpiece about the worst director of all time ends up being a wonderful flick
    • 4. There's Something about Mary
      This might be a guilty pleasure of mine, but i don't care, it had some of the biggest laughs in the last decade and the lovely Cameron Diaz

      The coolest movie of the 90's by far

      The Most beautiful looking film of the 90's with the most well thought out quirky characters and the wonderful Bill Murray

    • 10. Jurassic Park (1993)
      Great science fiction family film, directed by Steven Spielberg. Adapted from the book by Michael Crichton. Good performances by Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum.
    • 9. American Beauty (1999)
      Intelligent satire about mid-life crisis. All too true and very funny. Winner of 5 Oscars, including Best Picture. Excellent perfromances by Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening.
    • 8. Carlito's Way (1993)
      Great story of an ex-Puerto Rican drug-lord, who tries in vain to go straight after being paroled. Director Brian De Palma delivers a riveting crime drama. Excellent performances by Al Pacino and Sean Penn.
    • 7. The War (1994)
      Morallity playground of a tear-jerker. Good story of a Vietnam veteran who returns home to his family suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Great performances by Kevin Costner and Elijah Wood.
    • 6. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
      Truly suspensful psychological thriller of epic proportion. Spine-tingling performance by Anthony Hopkins as the criminally insane Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Jodi Foster also gives a notable performance as rookie FBI agent Clarice Starling. Definetly a must see film.
    • 5. Casino (1995)
      True story of a mafia owned casino in 1970's Las Vegas. Excellent Matin Scorsese film. If you liked Goodfellas, you'll love this. Great acting from Robert Deniro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone.
    • 4. Forrest Gump (1994)
      Heartwarming story of one man who somehow manages to be involved in just about every piece of American history from the early 1950's to the early 1980's. Well acted by Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise. 5 star drama.
    • 3. The Sixth Sense (1999)
      Chilling supernatural thriller with an original plot twist, and the biggest summer blockbuster of 1999. Great performances by Bruce Willis as Dr. Malcolm Crowe, and Haley Joel Osment as Cole Sear.
    • 2. Backdraft (1991)
      One of the all time great fireman's films. Only notable fire film of the 1990's. Ranks up there with Steve McQueen's The Towering Inferno from 1974. Brilliantly directed by Ron Howard.
    • 1. L.A. Confidential (1997)
      Classic crime suspense thriller. Excellent performances by Kevin Spacey and Russell Crowe.

      Wonderful crime story, with a dynamic and beautifully written script. Awesome performances.
    • 9. Braveheart
      Epic.
    • 8. Saving Private Ryan
      A landmark film. The bookends with Damon as an elderly man seemed a bit pointless, however.
    • 7. Schindler's List
      A truly important film that never once loses its impact. Best cinematography of the 90's.
    • 6. The Shawshank Redemption
      Wow.
    • 5. American Beauty
      So much depth, such beautiful direction and script.
    • 4. Fargo
      The best film from Los Hermanos Coen. So true to life, beautifully tragic. Incredibly well-written and tight.
    • 3. Boogie Nights
      Very passionate, also gritty epic film - one of the most memorable.
    • 2. Unforgiven
      A strong, powerful western that plays in your head over and over and over...dynamic character arc.
    • 1. Goodfellas
      Perfect, gritty, beautiful, and nostalgic.
    It's amazing. I never thought anyone would consider "Tommy Boy" to be the best film from the 90's.

      A riveting film about race relations on college campuses. Omar Epps, Michael Rappaport, and Lawrence Fishburne are all terrific.

      Another great coming-of-age story about the an Italian-American teen growing up in the Bronx.
    • 5. The Sandlot
      A great coming-of-age story.
    • 4. The Good Son
      Mackauly Culkin is awesome in this movie!
    • 3. The Joy Luck Club
      An excellent portrayl of the tumultuous relationships between Chinese women and their American-born daughters. Plus, Ming-Na rocks!
    • 2. The Talented Mr. Ripley
      An spellboundingly haunting film. Plus, this movie put Italy at the top of my traveling itenerary.
    • 1. Great Expectations
      I LOVE THIS MOVIE! The usage of green in every scene, the unrequited love story--it's absolutely beautiful! Gwyneth Paltrow, Ethan Hawke, Robert DeNiro, and Anne Bancroft give outstanding performances.
    Honorable mentions: Houseguest, Liberty Heights, and Saving Private Ryan.

      what can I say? AFI had it in the top 10 of all time. no other 90's movie was even close!
    I can say that most of you all don't know how to judge a movie. I mean come on guys: clueless? ace ventura? sure these movies are fun to watch but their NOT one of the best. Braveheart is a great movie but it shouldn't be in the top 10, but it probably should be in the the top 20. anybody who doesn't put Schindler's List #1 should not be allowed to vote. other movies worth mentioning: Unforgiven, The English Patient, The Shawshank Redemption, Braveheart, Jerry Maguire, Titanic, Jurassic Park, Shakespeare in Love.

      Such a powerful movie that I'm definately going to recommend to my children and my children's children, I think everyone in the world should see this at least once!

      Unbelieveable, this will always hold a special place in my movie hall of fame!
    • 1. Dazed and Confused
      My ULTIMATE pick, I've seen it well over a hundred times and never get sick of it, I can practically recite the whole movie from scratch!
