      Standing out as a group with a political opinion and agenda like no other band of their time, RATM's "Freedom" put the band on the map and got a lot of people's attention really fast.
    • 8. November Rain by Guns N Roses
      Not a particularly huge fan of the band, they still deserve credit for this rock masterpiece that spanned nearly 8 minutes in length.
    • 7. Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden
      A trip out video combined with one of the greatest lead singers of all time made for one of the biggest hits of the decade.
    • 6. Plush by Stone Temple Pilots
      Huge hit in the early 90's and a song that put STP among the top acts in the country.
    • 5. Tonight, Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins
      A song that experienced alternative and mainstream success, Billy Corgan's band recorded one of the more timeless songs of the decade.
    • 4. Rooster by Alice in Chains
      A song inspired from the grim reality known as Vietnam, Alice in Chains took Grunge and rock music on to a whole new level with this incredible song and video.
    • 3. Jeremy by Pearl Jam
      The song that has kept Pearl Jam a favorite among many Grunge era fans.
    • 2. Enter Sandman by Metallica
      A rock anthem, that is still a standard in mainstream metal.
    • 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
      The turning point in rock and music in general in the early 1990's.

    Honorable mentions in the decade include Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Radiohead,Mother Love Bone,Mudhoney,Screaming Trees,Sonic Youth,and Mad Season. All these bands had a lot to do with the rock resurgence in the early 90's, however I feel these were the best tunes of the 90's.

      Bone thugs and 2 pac what more can I say, this song is gangstar, 5 different rappers ripp it up. (listen when u wanna get pumped)

      This is one of pacs songs that never got to popular, dunno why. This song explains the everyday strugle in the ghetto, and the pain comes along with it
    • 1. The Message by Nas
      Hip hop beat with some acoustic guitar put together in harmony, and to make it even better Nas saved his best lyrics for this one.

    I know this all hip hop, but the last good rock music was made long ago, and no dance or trance cause this is probably an american or canadian site and u just wouldn't appreciate it to bad. Anyways this is in no way the top 10 hip hop songs, theres to many good songs to narrow it to 10.

      Until that point was the only song i didn't like of Aerosmith (since i've hate everything they have recorded) But many people like this song and brigs good memories for them.

      Personally the best hard song of the 90's (not metal) Great balance with hard electric guitars and acoustic guitars.
    • 7. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
      Great mush song, maybe not with outstandig lyrics or anything like that but its just simply one of the best songs of the 90's

      One positive song for any ocassion, it makes us feel alive and gives us the vive to sing with it. Very very good song.

      Very good song. Personally it has the bes written ending of a song :"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, i know you be the sun in somebody elses' sky but why can't it be mine?"

      Also, big song around the world. Dont say you dont like it, Gwen best singing and best lyrics. Too bad they went comercial with theyr lates cds.

      the 10 most enjoyable minutes of the 90's. Everyone knows this song and loves it. You may not like Guns n Roses but you do like this song, very emotional song and excellently made.
    • 2. Tonight, Tonight by Smashing Pumpkings
      Great song by a great band, and alsgo great video. The violins help alot to this song and the lyrics are also very good.

      great touching song, im not a big fan of pop or soft rock but i cant find any song better that this in the 90's.
