What are your top ten favorite songs from the 90s?

    By: Freddy
    • 10. Gorecki by Lamb
this song brought out the best for me of '99- and still manages to bring up the best memories of the end of the decade!
    • 9. Spawn by George
When i first heard this song, it had a huge impact on me and i couldn't get enough of it. It really stood out as a very distinct beautifully sung song. If Katie and Eddie ever reproduce, they will have the most talented kids with the most beautiful strong unique voices.
    • 8. Tonight, Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins
Billy Corgan has the voice which epitomised the '90's. I appreciate the video to this song even more since i saw the inspiration behind it, a little film made in 1904(i think) called A Trip To The Moon. Very cute.
    • 7. Violet by Hole
I fell in love with 'Live Through This' before i did with Nevermind. This album always brings upon nostalgia for the '90's- ahh those were the days! Yay for '94!!
    • 6. Fade Into You by Mazzy Star
utterly brilliant! Their 'So Tonight that I might See' album is a masterpiece. Beautiful piece of work. It's just too bad that most brilliant bands of the 90's didn't last. Im yet to discover Hope's new band The Warm Inventions. The early 90's were the best in terms of music (fuck it, in terms of everything) of the decade, and i spent many a-nights falling asleep to this little doozy turned up loudly.
    • 5. Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden
I tried to refrain myself from putting this song in cos I've heard it one too many times- but i never get sick of it. It truly did bring out the best of the 90's. And it doesn't hurt that Chris Cornell, like Ed and Kurt is not only a genuis but fucking hot too! (just quietly)
    • 4. Touched by Vast
fuck-me WOW-FUCKING-WOW! Listen to this loud enough and i guarantee you will reach an altered state of mind!
    • 3. Precious Things by Tori Amos
Tori is the 'fuck-you-tripped-out-genuis' that has never needed to even pick up a guitar. Her music is piano and vocals at their best. Who else can cover 'Smells Like Teen Spirit and Losing my Religion' on piano and still maintain their dignity?? And she does so very very well i may add. Very unique artist. NOTE: highlight of Precious Things is as follows: 'I wanna smash the faces of all those beautiful boys, all those Christian boys. So you can make me come, it doesn't make you Jesus.' Oh the irony!
    • 2. Mexican Seafood by Nirvana
Im sorry but 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' has reached my 'if i hear that song one more time, im gonna kill somebody' point, so i have kept myself from mentioning it here. It is brilliant, but then again which of their songs aren't? Mexican Seafood is a song that i know what it is about, but still have not build myself to finding (all) the lyrics out, cos it just makes me appreciate it more this way. But it's worth finding out- trust me! Although, Heart Shaped Box is really my Nirvana song of the 90's. (just quietly)
    • 1. Black by Pearl Jam
what can i say? Nirvana and Pearl Jam are one in the same in terms of brilliance, but i put PJ first cos Black has much deeper meaning than Mexican Seafood. This song is simply fucking brilliant- I've yet to hear another song which deals with this subject matter as well as Black does.I mean there are plenty, but Ed's approach is most unique. Eddie is a brilliant lyricist, what more can i say? If you haven't dissected his lyrics yet, i suggest you do so NOW! you'll gain a better understanding and more respect for them. NOTE: The cover of this song done by Staind is the biggest insult on good music in the history of insults. Pathetic, slow cover that tries to sound too much like Ed would sing it rather than 'appropriate' it as Tori does with her covers.

These are merely the first 10 songs that popped into my head my friends. There are numerous others from bands including: The Eels; The RHCP; the foo's; veruca salt; PJ Harvey; Bjork; Alanis; etc etc

My favorite song on their Blue Album. This song is absolutely unbelievable with a baseline that seems to emphasize the obsession with this girl and how shes "in the air."
    • 9. Better Man by Pearl Jam

    • 2. Glycerine by Bush
For Some reason this is one song i can never get sick of. Bush does an unbelievable job at saying that we should live our lives to the fullest and never let "days go by." The baseline in this song is AMAZING
    • 1. Black by Pearl Jam
Unbelievable lyrics and music. A culmination of Eddy Vedders experiences and talents in one songs, although the entire Ten Album is amazing. When Vedder sings "I know you'll be a sun in someone else's sky, But why, why , why cant it be mine" I feel as though im about to cry.
