What are your top ten favorite songs from the 90s?

    By: Kristopher
    • 10. One Week by Barenaked Ladies
Very fast and lyrical song. Filled with pop culture references of the 90s. Just listen to the song and you will understand what I mean. This is the LIFE IS A ROCK by REUNION for the 90s.
    • 9. Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction
Cause we've all been caught stealing in the 90s once or twice. And Dave Navarro plays mean guitar on this.
    • 8. Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters
Rock it hard Dave. Rock it loud and hard and just dont stop. Okay, now scream a little. And while you are at it, bring rock back to life and make the world fall in love with you too.
    • 7. Buddy Holly by Weezer
Great sing along song with probably the cleverest film clip of the 90s. The boys singing in Arnold's Diner from Happy Days. Anyone who bought Microsoft Windows 95 probably had this in their PCs, and enjoyed every Weezery second of it.
    • 6. Out the Window by Violent Femmes
An acoustic bass song that makes light of peoples false attemts at getting attention from committing suicide. Sounds depressing but it is not. Gordon Gano rules. The album WHY DO BIRDS SING? by the Violent Femmes is one of the great albums of the 90s.
    • 5. Runaround by Blues Traveller
Great new blues. The band has a fun sound, and John Popper's voice and harmonica styles are among the best in the world. Live it. Love it. Want more of it.
    • 4. All For You by Sister Hazel
Just one of those half acoustic feel good songs that anyone can enjoy. This could also include anything by the Rembrandts, or that song from PARTY OF FIVE.
    • 3. Ironic by Alanis Morisette
Any Alanis song would do for this but I chose this one because it was a huge hit for her, a memorable song of the times, and nothing in it is ironic. It's all just unfortunate. She led the way for girls like Avril and Pink too, so some good did come of it.
    • 2. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Probably the most recognisable song of the Seattle grunge movement. You cant not think of this song when you talk about influences of 90s music.
    • 1. Too Much by Dave Matthews Band
A song that not only sounded excellent but also reflected the way most of us feel in this world of over consumption. Great track. Great Band.

Yeah I know my list has no Meatloaf or Shaggy. No Tupac or Biggie. No Britney, Kylie, Madonna, Cher, or Spice Girls. I tried to put in songs that just weren't little throw away hits by groups that that never lasted or influenced anyone important. I like real musicians. People who can actually play instruments and don't need to rely on studio tricks for clarity in vocals. These the songs I like. I hope you can all like them too..Kristopher

    • 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
I dont know much about the 90s, born in 89 but now that im 13 and am writing this i realize this is just a small site but i wish to voice my opinions so here goes. Nirvana is the best gruop of the 90s, this one is a classic that will never be forgotten Long LIve Nirvana R.I.P Kurt cobain ur mission on Earth was fullfilled

i read some of these and i agree with one guy. When Kurt Cobain died it was the end of rock. Then some teenagers tried to take rock over but without success. These days there is Eminem, 50cents rappers and hip music which is all shit. Sure there are some good songs but mainly its garbage. Simply when Kurt cobain died so did Nirvana, rock , and music will never be the same. I think that a big chunk of music is tin the grave with Kurt. Music will never be the same.
