    • 10. One by Filter
One of the BEST covers I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. ((dont' hang me, you purists, but Fatboy Slim and Depeche Mode's When Doves Cry is also AMAZING!!!!))
    • 9. Tori Amos by Cought a Light Sneeze
Stop groaning--- If I have Trent (NIN) on here- I have to put Tori, too... This song is nicely layered- and well executed- (Hey Jupiter is another honerable mention)
    • 8. Portishead by Sour Times
They're sooo overlooked (like XTC from the 80's)... Case in point: Had the CD in the car- windows down, summer, dusk- at a stop light- I had cars on either side turn DOWN their stereos to listen to this- then both call over to ask who it was. Different and refreshing- not a track of theirs I haven't liked.
    • 7. Satellite by Dave Matthews Band
An entry more for the band than the song--- This song, though, in particular, is complex enough to keep me coming back to it on the CD player time and time again... Musically AND lyrically.
    • 6. Long December by Counting Crows
I had to put them somewhere on here-- a band I tend to forget I really like... Long December is singles out only 'cause it sums up a lot of feelings- Colorblind is also worthy of mention (made me RUN to get the Cruel Intentions soundtrack.)
    • 5. Desert Rose by Sting and Cheb Mami`
pure pop- I love the song- and gladly run it through my head at the office repeatedly...
    • 4. Sweet Lullaby by Deep Forest
Their first album, undoubtedly their best--- a lot of stuff was done with this CD as "mood music." *blushing*
    • 3. Barely Breathing by Duncan Sheik
Great universal song of consolation... When nothing else did- this song made sense.
    • 2. Bard's Tale by enya
Means too much to try to explain. Just take it for what it is- a VERY pretty song.
    • 1. Closer by NIN
College staple- puts into words and make audible all those things we tend to think and keep locked in the dark recesses of the back closet of the brain... Excellent work.

Honerable mentions, purely for personal reasons: -Mother '99- Danzig -Numb- U2 -The Promise- Tracy Chapman -Connection- Elastica -Galileo- Indigo Girls -Meet Virginia- Train
