    • 10. Save Yourself by Stabbing Westward
This song just has it all : great lyrics, great band, great in your face meaning!
    • 9. SunShower by Chris Cornell
This song was done for the Great Expectations Soundtrack. Just a really good song with beautiful lyrics.
    • 8. Crash by Dave Mathews
I would have to agree with the other person that put this on their top 10 list. "this is one of the best love songs out there".
    • 7. Iris by GooGoo Dolls
Actually, I would have to say the entire City Of Angels Album is one of the best albums ever...but iris deserves credit.
    • 6. I Shall not Walk Alone by Ben Harper
In one of my most vulnerable times this song gave me great comfort when I thought I had noone in the world.
    • 5. Mouth full of Cavities by Blind Melon
I have listened to this song on repeat for the last several days....
    • 4. Wild Horses by Bush (did a cover from the Rolling Stones)
A great orginal song with a great cover to match...brings back some painful memories but still a great song.

    • 10. Street Spirit (Fade Out) by Radiohead
A brilliant guitar part behind some of Thom Yorke's best droning. Anyone who hears this song and doesn't fall in love with Radiohead right away has some problems.
    • 9. Shame by Matchbox 20
I get pissed off when people group mb20 in with some of the other terrible pop music getting made today, because they're really several cuts above anyone making music right now. Rob Thomas's songwriting is so consistently excellent it's just amazing. This sometimes overlooked song I think is the jewel in the crown of the excellent first album.
    • 8. The World I Know by Collective Soul
Collective Soul wins the underrated band award for the 1990's. They have so many great songs, and this is their best. Brooding and sad, while at the same time uplifting, and an awesome melody make for a classic.
    • 7. Grace by Jeff Buckley
Thinking of what Jeff Buckley could have done is almost frightening. I really don't doubt that he would have brought guitar rock to unprecedented heights and recorded some of the best music ever. We're lucky that he was able to leave us this masterpiece.
    • 6. All Around The World by Oasis
Oasis couldn't have picked a better song to stretch out to nine minutes. This is Noel Gallagher's melody writing at its pinnacle, and Liam's throaty singing is never better.
    • 5. All Apologies by Nirvana
    • 4. Even Better Than The Real Thing by U2
There are definitely at least a few U2 songs that could show up on a list like this. I think that Even Better Than The Real Thing shows the sort of harder-rocking side of U2 really well, and every band member gets to shine on this one.
    • 3. Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack
The hypnotic background music supporting Shara Nelson's impassioned vocals shoot chills all over the place. Truly a masterful production.
    • 2. Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead
I really think Radiohead peaked with The Bends. This song shows off everything that one of the best bands ever does really well, especially in the euphoric final verse.
    • 1. Alive by Pearl Jam
Rock music hadn't been this good or pure since the days of Cream and Led Zeppelin, and definitely hasn't been since. It's really too bad that people aren't still trying to make music like this.

    • 3. What I Got by Sublime
this song is about lovin....if the world spent more time loving than hating...it would be a much better place
    • 2. Pardon Me by Incubus
started me into my incubus obsession....the song is about depression and wanting just to burst into flames and get out of it....great song, acoustic version is awesome too
    • 1. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
