I wore a pair of Jelly shoes when I lived in Las Vegas. They had little plastic flowers bracketed on them. One time I was wearing them outside in the apartment playground, and ran my foot into an ant colony. I could walk for days. When I moved to Missouri, it became a very smart idea to wear hiking boots.

Lacey - November 25, 2007 - Report this comment
Aw, I remember those! I always wore them whe I was little. They are making a comeback, but I wouldn't touch them now. I always had a blister on my heel because of them! Didn't those fashionistas learn their lesson when they were little?
Spike - December 02, 2007 - Report this comment
I didn't know about these back then, but i see alot of them now. Like rubber clogs. I see them in shoe shops in heaps of colors and wonder how many of those ugly things they must actually sell. lol

Those shoes came out in the 80s (when I was a baby), and they made a big comeback in the late nineties (when I was about 15ish).

Maha - January 05, 2008 - Report this comment
My littgle sister had a blue pair and then a purple pair that she would never leave the house without. In winter she would wear them with white stockings! I was a bit too old to get into the fad, as this was mostly for really young kids. I was not, however, too old to fall for the "Clogs" fad...

I wore them with socks, and I wore a neon green friendship bracelet over my right sock. I kid you not.

Hahahah I remember I loved my jelly shoes. I think I had about ten pairs; my favorite were the purple sparkly ones! I don't remember ever getting blisters from them. I do, however, know that they would break and, if I spent too much time on the blacktop during recess, the bottoms would melt!
becca - June 28, 2008 - Report this comment

Emma - July 03, 2008 - Report this comment
I loved these! I had them in almost every single color, all with glitter, and they aboslutely killed my feet. This is one nineties fad I have no interest in reviving.

Man...those were the days..Remember when they came out in Heels? Man..I thought I was the stuff cuz I was 12 wit high heeled Jellys. The downside was if u got the clear ones, after a while your feet would get dirty and the jellies turned like a dingy brown color..Not SEXY
Marc - September 13, 2008 - Report this comment
Mannn, we really are the cool kids, aren't we! I bet pretty much all of us were cool when we were younger, but quite different now.. We seriously did get the best of fads in my opinion. Jelly shoes were kickass, still are haha, but I'm male and 17 now lol. Rock on you Millenials!

I went though about two or three pairs of jelly shoes when I was a kid. Not because they broke, but because i kept growing. I was afraid to wear them because the two time i fell down the stairs I was wearing jelly shoes. I still love them.

My god, I loved my jellies. I had the sparkly kind in purple and lime green. They were bomb. But yeah, the blisters were a major downfall. Guess I didn't care back then though haha.
Sarah - December 02, 2008 - Report this comment
I never got a pair of jellies, and I wanted them so much. All my friends had them. One girl I played with a lot also had three Ken dolls and I had none and she would never let me play with them, and said "Too bad you don't have one." If she hadn't been the daughter of my mom's best friend I never would have wasted so many hours with such a selfish person.
Crystal - December 07, 2008 - Report this comment

Oh my goodness, When I was real little these were popular, but my mom wouldn't let me have them...she was baby-sitting this girl a bit older than me when the girl got out of the bath. My mom saw that her feet were still dirty so she sent her back..when she came back her feet still looked dirty so my om started scrubbing her feet, then she figured out that her feet had tanned through the jellies and looked like dirt flecks!

I LOVED jelly shoes! And I really don't remember ever having problems with blisters, but maybe because I wore my blue and white striped socks with them (the shoes were blue) LOL... And I don't think I even had a problem with the shoes breaking at all... I just remember growing out of them, and then I was sad because my parents wouldn't let me get another pair :(
Lisa Koffler - January 18, 2011 - Report this comment
The 80s had them, too.
Andrea S. - June 16, 2011 - Report this comment
I had a pair of Jelly high-heel clogs that I got from payless. I wore those things non-stop until I was out with family, they were fishing and I ended up in the river (don't ask). They smelled like sewage after that and I could never get the smell out. God I loved those shoes!
Alexis - October 03, 2011 - Report this comment
Oh my gosh.. i had every color of jellys for probably 2 years. they never hurt my feet and they always had that rubber smell. it's definitely a childhood smell. jellys are making a comeback, i saw some at wal mart.

Jellies made a huge comeback in the mid-90s. I wore them as a little girl in the '80s. The jellies I had in the '90s were platforms.
