Description
Who can forget this: 'The Burger With the Grown-up Taste.' I never saw what was so grown-up about it; adding more to the mystery was how they advertised it with kids showing opposition to the Arch Deluxe. You may have seen these type of ads on TV or, more prominently, on highway billboards. Thus, the Arch Deluxe had to be one of the most hyped products introduced by McDonalds...and also one of the least healthful by any food chain. According to an issue of Consumer Reports magazine, just one Arch Deluxe contained nearly 600 calories - the near equivalent of 15 Burger King Whoppers. Based on the average diet, that's about 1/4-1/3 of what you need for the whole day! The article put it best: 'Hardly what your arteries need.' I guess the kids DID have every right not to like the Arch Deluxe...who's gonna miss it now? I didn't think so.

The Arche Deluxe was amazingly good. The sauce really made it unique.

I loved the Arch Deluxe, especially the peppered bacon. This was a sandwich I could never get tired of. I worked at McDonald's when this came out and most of my break meals included the Arch. They said this was an "adult sandwich" and I remember seeing commericals with kids frowning upon it. If there's any "adult" sandwich that kids love to hate and that I love it's the Arch. It should never have left the menu. I have dreams about McDonald's putting it back on the permanent menu and keeping it there for all time!

I liked the other arch sandwiches. The arch crispy chicken was so good. The bread they used tasted a lot better.

I'll always long for the Arch Deluxe. I remember it fondly. Came out in the spring of 1996. I was away at college and the Arch Deluxe was a night of fine dining back then. A very good sandwich worthy of a petition to McDonald's for it's reinstatement. Let's unite to bring back the Arch Deluxe!

I loved the Arch Deluxe. I was in high school at the time and would get one every day after practice it seemed like. We had like 100 coupons which made the sandwich only $1.00 and with the meal you'd get a sheet of sports cards, football mostly. Maybe it wouldn't be as good now days however they should bring it back for a while.

"just one Arch Deluxe contained nearly 600 calories - the near equivalent of 15 Burger King Whoppers." This is incorrect. A regular Whopper actually has MORE; 670 calories. Also, Double Whopper has 920 calories, Triple Whopper has 1160.

I was actually in one of those commercials and never understood why they left so quick! We need to definitely bring that burger back to America!

I LOVED the Arch Deluxe burger.. came out in Spring '96, when I gratuated highschool. I found this site via google search, 36 weeks pregnant and I could really go for an Arch. McDonalds still tries to come out with a newer, better speciality burger and they just do not cut it. Maybe Arch was such a flop because they tried to hard to market it. Marketing 101: they should take their failures and leasons learned on launching the burger and try again for success this time. Please just bring back the ARCH !!!

You need to change that comment about 15 Whoppers. If 600 calories equals 15 Whoppers that means one Whopper is only 40 calories and that's blatantly false on the face of it. I doubt that either the top or bottom half of the bun is only 40 calories let alone the whole Whopper. The lettuce and tomato probably have more than 40 calories. If you're going to rip one company's products using another company's products to back up your claims then at least use accurate information. Oh, and a 600 calorie burger is nothing these days. There's burgers out there with 1500 calories or more now, so an Arch Deluxe looks positively healthy in comparison.

Just so you know, the whopper has 600 calories.
