Released in the late 90's, Tamagotchis were little digital pets on a keychain that needed your undivided attention. You could care for them by the touch of a button. Many schools banned them because they were distracting. Some children would get too into the toy and cry if their Tamagotchi died. Almost immediately after Tamagotchi's were released, imitations were all over the market.

The following are comments left about Tamagotchi from site visitors such as yourself. They are not spell checked or reviewed for accuracy. I had quite a few of these. everyone i know had one of these. they sold out almost as soon as they hit shops each time. they were awesome but i never knew anyone cry over t, get upset maybe, but never cry. if kids were crying over it, they were too young to be playing it, the ones i had had an age limit of 8 plus
i think they tried to make a poor attempt at a come-back a while ago, i got really excited and then i rememberd all the times i had to reset the damn things with the always too small little reset button because the would always die on me
i through mine away beacuse it was to much to handle you had to be on it like 24 hours a day 7 days a week and mine always died. theres a tamigotchi cemetary in japan ....
These were the hallmark of the late 90's I had them attached to my backpack and my guys would always seem to die. I was in K-Mart and I saw one! They brought'em back! Now that I'm more mature 10yrs later, they look kinda stupid lol
i liked my tomagotchi it was a cute little bunny but he died cause i forgot to feed him
I had one of the imitations because the tamagotchi was sold out every where. I ended up with a ginga pet. I liked it, til it got really annoying.
i loved mines so much!! i made mom take that thing to work and everything so it wouldn't die. she was workin at jewel osco, so she's all like workin the check out counter and then she's like oh hold on to your freakin preferred card i have to scoop poop for this little virtual bastard!
mine died in a few days lol
These were kool but then they kinda lost their magical touch
I had the mcdonalds ones when i was in the first grade in 2006 i started to collect the real ones i had a v3,v2,3Xv4 1 v4.5 and now ihave a v5.
i love them there so kool
hi love u
I had one!!! I had a Little Mermaid One that was purple. I Was sad this one time, because I thought my Tamagotchi Died And The next morning... I was really happy, because My mom told me they had babies.
These things seemed so space-age and awesome back then. Ironically I just found mine about a week ago, so I'm determined to get some new batteries in it! The new ones are "cooler" I guess, but back then they just seemed so much more amazing since technology wasn't that far yet.
I have 4 tamagotchis left from my youth.
I bought them 10 years ago.
I have also a new tamagotchi, but I really find the new ones horrible. They're all the same shape, they don't have the originality they had in the 90's anymore.
I remember how great it was to have one, because 10 years ago .. heh .. we didn't have all the technology we have now. Besides, they were really cheap ! The one we can find in the stores now really cost much (at least in France, they do.)
I prefer the old ones.
they used to be awesome but now they suck @$$
I still have all of mine. Which is like, 25. Keep them all in a huge zip lock bag. When my school still allowed them I had like 9 of them attached to my backpack and a teacher at school brought this huge tangled MASS of virtual pets into the class room and demanded to know who they belonged to because they were ALL making noise.
they are so cool
I had a Little Mermaid one too, mine was yellow. I got it for Christmas AFTER they had been out and then banded from school. I was in 7th grade when they came out, several years after that i bought a NanoBaby and it was cooler than the Mermaid but kept dying, idk what happened to either one, musta lost them while moving
i had one in 3rd grade but i lost it and im in 7th grade now i dont care too much for them now lol i have real pets anyway to take care of
I remeber the first day I got one and I had many after
i was in kindergarten when these were popular...i had like 5 of them and they always died on me i had to get my mom to put a pen in the stupid tiny reset button
I forgot about these. I'm going to see if I can buy one online and hang it on my schoolbag to represent the 90s. That along with teenie beanie babies and anything else I can come across from the 90s
i would keep setting the time on it to 1159 pm and make it grow like five days in five minutes. i had the dinosaur and frog and dog gigapets
